Course content:
Cycle 1 science and technology focuses on the development of scientific and technological skills (competencies) through the study of a broad range of topics organized into four content areas including:
 1)  The Material World
a)    Characteristic properties of matter (e.g. mass, density)
b)    Physical and chemical changes (e.g. mixtures, solutions)
c)     The organization of matter (e.g. the atom, molecules).
2) The Living World
a)    The diversity of life forms (e.g. populations, habitats)
b)    The survival of species (e.g. reproduction)
c)     Life sustaining processes (e.g. characteristics of livings things, cells)
3) The Earth and Space
a)    The general characteristics of the Earth (e.g. internal layers, atmospheric layers)
b)    Geological and geophysical phenomena (e.g. plate tectonics, volcanoes)
c)     Astronomical phenomena (e.g. solar system).  
4) The Technological World:
a)    Forces and Motion (e.g. types of motion, simple machines)
b)    Technological systems (e.g. basic mechanical functions, energy transfer)
c)     Engineering (e.g. building using an engineering process)
Evaluation               
Students will be evaluated on three competencies which support development of scientific skills.
Objective 1: Practical:  40%
 The ability to seek answers or solutions to scientific or technological problems. (Labs, projects, etc)

3. The ability to carry out a procedure
4. The ability to analyse results
